Mauritius may invite bids next week for a 49% stake in Air Mauritius (MK, Mauritius) as the island nation seeks to attract investment, boost tourism, and strengthen the airline’s finances, people familiar with the plan have told Bloomberg.

The government is leading the sale of the minority stake in the state-owned carrier, with Qatar Airways seen by some officials as a favoured bidder, according to the people who spoke on condition of anonymity because the process has not yet been announced.
